Well to sum up a very large movement in a brief message: A Vancouver police officer gave a speech to some NY law students stating, the way to stop rape was for women to stop dressing like “sluts”. This idea of victim blaming, or blaming the raped rather than the rapists, began to trickle down into the law enforcement divisions when they began releasing similar statements to the public. This protest was a public outcry to the fact anyone should be able to wear whatever they want without fear of being raped and that the police should be concerned with stoping rapists and not imposing fashion tips on women. Fran Fudge‘s sign refers to the important but somehow forgotten idea of consent.
