MºLongobardi began studying music with his father, a violinist, whose career was overshadowed by the war and family commitments.While working at the home of Mº Angelo Parigi, a voice teacher, his father was introduced to Professoressa Tita Parisi who became Gioacchino’s teacher and mentor.

Through Tita Parisi, Mº Longobardi continues an unbroken line of masters, becoming a direct descendent of the Neapolitan Piano School, attributed to Francesco Lanza, student of Muzio Clementi. It was through his mentor that he was exposed the Neapolitan School of the 18th century.

Mº Longobardi graduated from the Conservatorio San Pietro a Majella in Napoli, in Piano, Choral Music, Choral Conducting and Composition. He studied Sacred Music, Opera and Orchestration with Mº Ugo Rápalo, and Composition with Mº Aladino Di Martino. Mº Longobardi attended the Hochschule für Musik Mozarteum, in Salzburg, becoming one of the last students of Mº Herbert von Karajan.

He toured Europe extensively and while in Germany, he was first exposed to the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, founder of the Anthroposophy. This episode had a decisive influence on his life. A life that he translated into a beginning of a new musical journey, of endless experimentation, in search of his own sound. Based on the fundamental of Steiner, he attempts to create according to the same principals of nature, searching not in the individual, but in the whole.

Gioacchino Longobardi is presently the President and Artistic Director of the Neapolitan Music Society and Conductor and Artistic Director of the Saratoga Springs Youth Orchestra. He also holds the position of Music Director and Organist at Calvary United Methodist Church.
